Soil Use and Management (SUM), first published in 1985, is celebrating 30 years of publishing since it’s introduction by past-President, Professor Alan Wild.
Issues are published quarterly, with approximately 75 papers appearing annually.
The current Editor-in-Chief is Professor Michael Goss, with Fiona Nicholson and Matt Aitkenhead as deputies
SUM publishes papers on the application of soil science to understanding and solving important soil-based constraints to plant productivity, environmental protection and ecosystem services. It also provides a forum for informing and supporting policy development.
We champion rapid publication: 48 days on average from acceptance to Early View publication and 127 days from acceptance to online issue publication.
We have an extensive readership with the Journal being available at more than 3,800 institutions and more than 2,800 developing world institutions via philanthropic initiatives.
SUM Online Usage is very good, with more than 62,000 downloads a year.
