In support of World Soils Day on Saturday 5 December, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) is working with the International Union of Soil Science (IUSS) and have launched a scientific children’s book contest on this year’s theme Keep Soil Alive, Protect Soil Biodiversity. Entrants are invited to submit a book proposal for children aged 6 - 11 which highlights the vital role which soil and biodiversity play in ensuring human welfare and agricultural productivity. Applications should be received by Tuesday 10 November and the first prize winner will receive US$1,000.
