Dirt Science Training Course gets underway at Cranfield University

This morning Cranfield University in collaboration the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS) and the James Hutton Institute (JHI) began a NERC advanced training course in soil science at Cranfield University campus. The course will run until Friday 6th March 2015 and has 22 PhD students from across the country attending. The course is fully supported by NERC and has been offered at no cost to the participants.

BSSS featured on front cover of Science in Parliament Journal (Spring 2015)

The British Society of Soil Science features on the front cover of this quarter's "Science in Parliament" Journal which is now being distributed. There is also a double page article written by Dr Matt Aitkenhead, Professor Liz Baggs, Dr Helaina Black and Mr Willie Towers outlining the purpose of International Year of Soilds 2015 and the Society's involvement.


Student rep wanted! South East England Soil Discussion Group (SEESOIL)

SEESOIL is a regional group of the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS), covering south east England and East Anglia, although it welcomes members from all over the country. The current committee members are based at University of Reading, Cranfield University and Forest Research (Surrey). We are now seeking nominations for a new student representative to join the SEESOIL committee.
