Soil Pollution Photo Contest
The UN FAO’s Global Soil Partnership on the occasion of the Global Symposium on Soil Pollution (GSOP18) is organizing an online photo contest as a pre-event. The theme of the contest is “Soil Pollution” and will serve to increase awareness and encourage people to take action against the hidden reality of soil pollution, which aggressively impacts human health, food safety and security, and the environment.

The contest Innovation Awards Groupe Roullier is open to all universities and research laboratories and rewards the two best research projects relating to the Groupe Roullier’s fields of expertise in Plant Nutrition.

Plant Health Undergraduate Studentship Opportunity
Nine undergraduate studentships in Plant Health to be carried out over the summer of 2018
Researchers, with the backing of their institution, who can offer research expertise and a high quality research experience for the student, may apply.
The proposed research project must address at least one of the following themes:
UK '4 per mil' Debate - Recording now available
The ‘4 per 1000’ (4 per mil) initiative was launched at the COP21 in 2015, with the aim to slow down the increase in atmospheric concentrations of CO2 by annually increasing global soil organic carbon stocks by 0.4 % per year.
This initiative has sparked mixed reaction to the feasibility of achieving this, and discussion over what this means for soil management.
The Society hosted a debate on World Soil Day, 5th December 2017 with cntributions from invited speakers;
