Soil-Net is a collaboration between Cranfield University and the Open University and is a free, online soil science resource for school pupils and teachers.
The development of the resource was funded by The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and has been used by over one and a half million people in over 200 countries.

The BSSS 2017 annual meeting (with AGM) will host presentations and debate on what the ‘4 per 1000’ initiative means for UK soils.
The ‘4 per 1000’ (4 per mil) initiative was launched at the COP21 in 2015, with the aim to slow down the increase in atmospheric concentrations of CO2 by annually increasing global soil organic carbon stocks by 0.4 % per year.
