The British Society of Soil Science is pleased to announce that the next Foundation skills in field soil investigation, description and interpretation will be held on Tuesday 30th September 2014 at the James Hutton Institute, Invergowrie Campus, Dundee. This one day course is open to members at a reduced rate and places are limited to just 24 so you are advised to book early.

Today at the 20th World Congress of Soil Science the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) has awarded the 2022 World Congress to the British Society of Soil Science. The 20th World Congress of Soil Science is currently taking place at the International Convention Centre, Jeju Island, South Korea. Entitled “Soils embrace life and universe” the congress celebrates the 90th anniversary of the IUSS.

On 31 October, the Global Soil Partnership Secretariat convened a workshop to discuss about the establishment of the European Soil Partnership. The Berlin communiqué was prepared by the participants GSP partners and agreed to establish the European Soil Partnership whose Secretariat is based in Ispra, Italy. Also, the establishment of a Sub-regional Soil Partnership within the European Soil Partnership whose Secretariat would be based in Moscow, Russian Federation was endorsed.
