Duke of Gloucester attends Society 70th Anniversary Reception

The British Society of Soil Science began its 70th anniversary celebrations at the Royal College of Physicians in London at an evening reception on Tuesday 21st March 2017.

The Patron of the Society, His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO attended the reception and met many of the invited guests which included past 9 Presidents of the Society.

Left to - Right: Peter Arnold (1975 to 1976), Gordon Spoor (1989 to 1990), Tom Batey (1993 to 1994), Bernard Tinker (1983 to 1984), David Hopkins (2005 to 2006), David Powlson (1999 to 2000), Keith Goulding (2009 to 2011), Phil Haygarth (2013 to 2014), Wilfred Otten (Current President), Liz Baggs (2015 to 2016) and Sacha Mooney (President Elect).

There were a number of poster presentations highlighting the diverse areas where Soil Science is used both in the UK and internationally.

There was even a birthday cake!

Each of the presenters also wrote a short article for the commemorative book that has been published by the Society.
