The Society was sad to learn of the passing of member Dr Martyn Silgram PhD, M.I.Soil Sci, CSci on Saturday 10th February 2018.
Martyn joined ADAS in 1996 and quickly built up a reputation for his practical and topical work on soil and water movement in catchments. This has involved nutrient and sediment losses on slopes and in tramlines. His work on tramline management was of national importance. He used real-life data collection to develop models aimed at improving land and soil management for the benefit of farmers and the environment. More latterly this also included remote sensing approaches to catchment management.
Martyn was a long serving member with the Society having joined in the early 1990's. He was latterly a Full Member and Chartered Scientist.
Our deepest sympathies go to his wife and two sons.
