2016 Annual Meeting - "Soil, Security and Society"

This year the Society teams up with the Soil Security Programme (SSP) to create an inspiring meeting for researchers and practitioners to discuss advances in Soil science, and how we Secure soils for Society. The conference theme will be "Soil, Security and Society"

Catching the momentum of last year’s International Year of Soils, the start of the International Decade of Soil (2015-2024), and the establishment of the Soil Security Programme you are invited to join us at this conference, join in the discussions and present your research. THE CALL FOR ABSTRACTS IS NOW CLOSED.

Along with formal presentations, workshops, posters, the Society AGM and conference dinner, we are delighted to announce three keynote speakers for the 7th September;

Professor Dani OrThe ETH Zurich - "Biophysical Aspects of Microbial Life in Soil: Microbial Diversity and Self-Organization" 

Professor Steven A BanwartUniversity of Leeds - "Soil Functions, Soil Threats and Soil Design in Earth's Critical Zone"

Professor Bridget Emmett, Centre for Ecology and Hydrology - "The Parliamentary Soil Inquiry: How did we contribute and how do we respond?"

The conference will commence at 11.30am on September 7th, and run through till lunch at 2pm on September 8th. 

This meeting has been awarded 10 BASIS CPD points: 2 Crop Protection, 6 Environment, 2 Personal Development.
