The European Journal of Soil Science reports:

  • the latest significant results of research in all aspects of soil science,
  • describes new techniques,
  • provides up-to-date critical reviews,
  • welcomes thematic issues, and
  • publishes advanced educational papers.

Papers should:

  • be good science,
  • be new or novel,
  • improve our understanding,
  • interest an international audience.

Contributions are invited from all countries. The ‘European’ in the title of the Journal signifies that it is published on behalf of the societies of soil science in Europe and implies no discrimination against papers originating outside Europe. There are no page charges. The fields covered range across the following, but little is in fact excluded from consideration:

  • biology, biochemistry and organic substances
  • chemistry, physics and spatial studies
  • hydrology and structure
  • pedology and soil processes
  • soil functions and interactions
  • modelling and technique
